Detection Technology enters CMOS X-ray detector market with X-Panel

Detection Technology Plc Press Release 23 May 2018 at 13:00 (EEST)

Detection Technology, a global leader in X-ray imaging solutions, is boosting its growth strategy by expanding its product portfolio into the CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) X-ray detector market. With the new X-ray flat panel detector product family called X-Panel, the company will leverage its know-how and address a range of special market needs. As the first solution to enhance patient experience and safety, the company is introducing the X-Panel 1511 detector, with an active area of 15×11 cm.

“We believe that our X-Panel will make a real difference in the market. It enhances patient experience and safety with a scanning speed that is at least twice as fast as the industry average with best-in-class image quality, while still offering low-dose operation modes,” says Chen Wu, Vice President of Medical Business Unit at Detection Technology.

X-Panel comes with a frame rate of up to 94 fps in full size and full resolution. This frame rate allows razor-sharp images due to the reduced influence of motion blur, induced by patient movements. It is also capable of acquiring images at around 1,000 fps in a specific panoramic mode. The solution is powered by a true 16-bit ADC providing fast, low-noise and high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion.

The speedy yet sharp X-Panel 1511 detector is optimized to boost the performance of dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic X-ray imaging applications. The solution is built on a well-proven and easily scalable platform enabling a number of different panel sizes.

“In addition to the dental applications, the X-Panel product family is an ideal solution for a number of different applications in medical imaging. For example, mini-C arm and mammography systems can benefit from detector solutions like this. It is also interesting that the industrial imaging segment is seeking similar detectors.”

As a unique feature, X-Panel provides a data buffer that can be used in a specific scan-to-buffer mode to store a full pack of images, up to 500 frames, providing extra safety for imaging data management. X-Panel 1511 has a pixel size of 100µm, and is designed for an X-ray energy range of 40-125 kVp. X-Panel has a robust Gigabit Ethernet interface, and a software development kit available to support easy integration.

Detection Technology will showcase the key features of X-Panel at Sino-Dental 2018, the largest and most influential dental exhibition and scientific conference in China. The show will be held at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing on 9-12 June.
