Management Group
Detection Technology’s Management Group (MG) consists of eight members. The President and CEO serves as the Chair, and the CFO serves as the Secretary of the MG.
Hannu Martola
President and CEO, Chair of the Management Group

Born 1963
Hannu Martola has acted as President and CEO since 2007 and as a member of the Company’s board of directors (2007-2015). He has previously acted as President and CEO (2001–2007) and in several management positions (1992-2000) at VTI Technologies Oy. Hannu Martola has been the chairman of the board of directors of Powernet International Ltd and Powernet Oy since 2012, and Expedir Oy since 1985. He has been a member of the board of Enics AG since 2018. In addition, he has acted as chairman of the board of directors at Beddit Ltd (2007-2017), a member of the board of directors of Okmetic Oyj (2009-2016), and a member of the board of Powernet International Ltd and Powernet Oy (2008-2012) as well as a member of the board of directors at Ecocat International Oyj and Ecocat Oy (2004-2013). Hannu Martola holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering and an Executive MBA degree.
Chen Wu
President, APAC Business Unit

Chen Wu has acted as the President of the APAC Business Unit since the beginning of 2025 and Vice President of the Medical Business Unit (MBU) of the company since 2007. Prior to this, he has acted in managerial positions at the company (2005-2007) and at various positions within the company in China and Finland (1999-2005). Chen Wu holds a Ph.D. degree in Technology and an Executive MBA.
Sari Holopainen
Vice President, People and Culture

Born 1975
Sari Holopainen has acted as Vice President, Human Resources of the company since 2020. She joined Detection Technology from the cyber security company F-Secure, where she most recently served as Director, People Operations and Culture (2016-2020). Prior to that, she worked in managerial HR positions at F-Secure Oyj (2012-2016), UPM-Kymmene Oyj (2008-2012) and Nokia Oyj (2002-2008). Sari Holopainen holds a Master of Science degree in Educational Sciences.
Arve Lukander
President, EMEIA Business Unit

Born 1972
Arve Lukander has acted as President of the EMEIA Business Unit since the beginning of 2025 and Vice President of the Security Business Unit (SBU) of the company since 2021. He joined Detection Technology from Rigaku Analytical Devices Inc., where he served as Director, Sales and Marketing (EMEAI) since 2013. Prior to that, he worked in managerial positions at Inventure, Sitra, Planmeca, and Metorex International. He has been the Chair of the board of directors of Sensmet Oy since 2020. In addition, he has acted as the Chair of the board at Specim Oy, GrainSense Oy, and Spectral Engines Oy. Arve Lukander holds a Master of Science degree majoring in Applied Physics, and an MBA in Finance.
Matti Nylander
CFO

Born 1978
Matti Nylander has acted as CFO of the company since 2024. He joined Detection Technology from Varjo Technologies Ltd., where he served as CFO since 2017. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions in financial management at HMD Global (2016-2017), Microsoft (2014-2016) and Nokia (2006-2014). Matti Nylander holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering.
Jyrki Still
CTO
M.Sc. (Industrial Engineering & Operations Management)
Born 1969
Jyrki Still has served as the Chief Technology Officer of the company since 2008. In 2001-2008, he worked in various positions within the company in China and Finland. Prior to this, he held several management roles in electronics manufacturing companies in the United States, including Sanmina-SCI, Hadco, and South-Bay Circuits. Jyrki Still has been a member of the board of TactoTek Inc. since 2013. Additionally, he served as a member of the board of the Finnish Business Council Beijing (2009 -2013). Jyrki Still holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.
Juha Talasmäki
Vice President, Business Development

Juha Talasmäki has acted as Vice President of Business Development since the beginning of 2025 and Vice President of the Industrial Solutions Business Unit (IBU) of the company since 2021. He joined Detection Technology in 2015. He previously worked as Account Executive (Security and Industrial Solutions, EMEA), and as Account Manager and Product Manager. Before joining Detection Technology, he worked in managerial and expert positions in international sales and product management for Mirion Technologies Oy (2005-2015). Juha Talasmäki holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Kai Utela
Vice President, Operations
M.Sc. (Production Technology), MBA
Born 1966
Kai Utela has acted as the Vice President of Operations of the company since 2010. Prior to this, he held various managerial roles at VTI Technology Oy (1996–2010) and Nordberg-Lokomo Oy (1994–1996). In addition, Kai Utela served as the Chair of the Board at Koskitech Oy (1989–2004). Kai Utela holds a Master of Science degree in Production Technology and an MBA degree from Henley Business School.
Responsibilities
President and CEO
The Board of Directors appoints the President and CEO. The President and CEO is in charge of the management of the company’s business operations and governance in accordance with the Articles of Association, the Finnish Companies Act and the instructions given by the Board. The President and CEO is assisted in the management of the group by the Management Group. The Board decides on the service terms and conditions of the President and CEO, specified in writing. Currently the President and CEO has indefinite term with 6 months’ period of notice, and salary for the period of notice should the company give notice, in addition to which he is entitled to severance pay equivalent of 12 months’ fixed salary.
The President and CEO is responsible for the day to day management of the company, which consists of managing and controlling the company’s business in accordance with instructions and decisions issued by the Board of Directors.
The President and CEO may not carry out unusual or extensive actions without the specific approval of the Board of Directors, except in situations in which not carrying out the action would cause essential damage to the operations of the company and the approval of the Board of Directors cannot be obtained in time. The Board of Directors must be immediately notified of such actions, for which there was no time to wait for the Board’s approval.
The main responsibilities of the President and CEO are to:
- be responsible for the day to day management of the company
- approve business plans and performance objectives and control their implementation
- ensure the effective functioning of the Board of Directors and to ensure that the members of the Board of Directors receive proper and adequate information
- see to it that the accounting and bookkeeping of the company complies with the law and that the financial matters are being handled in a reliable manner
- report accurately and precisely following the instructions given by the Board of Directors
- implement decisions made by the Board of Directors and the General Meeting and
- ensure on his/her part that the company respects its legal obligations and regulations.
Management Group
The MG assists the President and CEO in managing the group. The fundamental purpose of the MG is to direct and develop DT’s business activities in a way that the strategic targets proposed by MG and approved by the Board of Directors will be achieved.
MG is carrying out its fundamental purpose by:
- defining company’s strategic objectives and strategy based on the board’s guidelines
- developing the mission, vision and value system of the company
- managing and measuring the implementation of the strategy
- creating a management system that supports profitability, responsibility and continuous improvement
- foreseeing and analysing the development of the business environment and reacting to the strategic change
- creating prerequisites and resourcing the operations of the company to improve competitiveness and to reach customer satisfaction
- making decisions of important development projects as well as resolving on refocusing and resourcing of the projects.
The MG meets regularly once a month and in addition to the regular meetings, the MG meets specifically to discuss the strategy, planning, results and project reviews, and other issues if necessary.
