Detection Technology to celebrate 25 years of innovation at RSNA 2016

Detection Technology Plc Press Release 9 November 2016 at 11.45 am (EET)

Detection Technology Plc, a global provider of X-ray imaging subsystems and components, today announced it will celebrate its 25 years of innovation and growth at RSNA 2016. At the show, Detection Technology will introduce its leading-edge solutions for medical imaging, and latest development on new technologies.

“Our strategic goal has been to combine strong market knowledge and customer intimacy with technology and engineering capabilities. As a result, we provide detector solutions utilizing standard, easily tailorable and scalable building blocks for superior customer satisfaction,” said Ph.D. Chen Wu, Vice President of Detection Technology’s Medical Business Unit.

“By playing an active role within the ecosystem for already 25 years and through a close partnership with industry leaders, we are able to assist our customers to rollout their next-generation X-ray equipment. One example of our latest technology development is a joint effort with a giant vendor to develop a novel tile-able detector module powering the most advanced CT system recently released in the market.”

“We have also widened our photodiode technology base to complement the 6-inch with an 8-inch wafer process, both running in high volume. With the two uniquely different processes we can meet the strictest performance, quality and volume requirements of our customers in the most optimal way. In addition, the 8-inch process opens new business opportunities to us like processing of CMOS imaging sensors.”

Detection Technology was founded by researchers with CERN background in Finland in 1991. Since then the company has been a pioneer in its field. It has been the industry first to introduce number of breakthrough imaging solutions to the global market.

In 2004, Detection Technology introduced a novel process to apply PCB (printed circuit board) material to replace costly HTCC (high temperature co-fired ceramic) substrates on CT detector modules. The innovation of low-cost detector module substrates was the game changer in the industry delivering remarkable cost savings for CT systems.

“Our ground-breaking innovations in photodiodes and photodiode processing are the foundation to build on the future. But more important is our multi-knowledge; knowhow of the impact of designs, materials and manufacturing processes on end-solutions’ performance, reliability and cost.”

In total over the quarter century, the company has shipped over one million solutions, of which around 400,000 units to power CT systems. The company has been growing faster than the market with a CAGR of 25% since 2011.

The company will be showcasing its medical imaging solutions and global capabilities at RSNA 2016 Annual Meeting, hall A stand 3211, McCormick Place in Chicago on November 27 – December 1. RSNA, the Radiological Society of North America, hosts the annual radiology forum.
